Amber Shook, patient care technician for AdventHealth Murray, has been awarded the hospital’s prestigious Extra Mile Award.
This special award was created by members of the hospital’s Employee Engagement Committee to recognize employees who go above and beyond the call of duty on a regular basis. It is awarded to deserving employees selected by the hospital’s directors.
Shook was nominated by a coworker who said the following: “While visiting a patient with dementia, the patient’s daughter stated that upon arriving earlier that day, she heard voices coming from her mother’s room. She stopped outside the door, where she could not be seen, and said she heard the sweetest conversation between her mother and Amber.
“She said Amber was extremely patient with her mother. Even with the patient’s confusion, Amber redirected and explained everything to her in a calming tone. It was at this moment that the daughter said she knew she made the right choice bringing her mother to AdventHealth Murray. All because Amber showed the love of Jesus through her words and actions.”
