DAYTONA BEACH, Fla., September 20, 2018 Shiv Desai, MD, MBA, has joined Radiation Oncology Specialists at AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center.
Dr. Desai is actively involved in clinical research and health policy advocacy. He is trained in a wide array of radiation therapy techniques, including intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), stereotactic body radiation therapy (SBRT), stereotactic radiosurgery (SRS), intraoperative radiation therapy (IORT), three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy (3DCRT), low-dose rate prostate brachytherapy, and high-dose rate gynecologic brachytherapy. Dr. Desai also utilizes advanced motion management techniques, including four-dimensional respiratory motion monitoring during simulation and treatment.
Before making the move to AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center, Dr. Desai served as chief resident in radiation oncology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicines Montefiore Medical Center in New York, New York. Prior to his time in New York, Dr. Desai earned his medical degree and MBA simultaneously in a combined, five-year program at the University of Miami in Miami, Florida. He completed a surgical internship at the University of Hawaii’s Queens Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.
Dr. Desai is an excellent addition to our team of highly qualified radiation oncologists, said Michelle Rosato, director of radiation oncology operations at AdventHealth Memorial Medical Center. His arrival helps ensure that we can continue to meet the growing need for high-quality radiologic expertise.
