Pati Kelley, RN, has been named AdventHealth Murray’s latest DAISY Award recipient. This award is part of the DAISY Foundation's program to recognize the super-human tasks nurses perform every day.
Kelley, who is a nurse in AdventHealth Murray’s emergency department, received the following nominations from two coworkers: “While Pati demonstrates professionalism, she also exemplifies the maternal instinct of care. She has been known to sit at the bedside of a patient after her shift, so the patient wasn’t alone or scared. I personally witnessed her with an Alzheimer’s patient that was confused and scared, and Pati helped her relax and even smile. This patient was my mother, and while she cared for her, she was caring for me.
“She promotes CREATION Life and encourages and challenges others to get involved while improving their health. When there is a special activity at the hospital, you can always find her actively participating. Pati is very deserving of this award.”
The second nomination said the following: “Pati is enthusiastic, willing to go the extra mile, cares about prayer for patients and staff, is involved in CREATION Life, seeks to make care better, uses creative thinking, seeks counsel with others and uses her life experiences in positive ways. I am grateful to work with her.
“Pati and her family have been through a lot, yet she comes to work with a positive attitude. This takes courage in the face of adversity and a faith that holds her up. This is what it means to be an AdventHealth employee and DAISY Award nurse. To me, it’s not always the big stories, but a thousand little things done on a daily basis that makes a world of difference. One patient, and one family at a time.”
