For the fourth consecutive year, AdventHealth Daytona Beach has earned a prestigious five-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the highest rating a hospital can attain.
Out of the thousands of U.S. hospitals surveyed, AdventHealth Daytona Beach is one of 381 hospitals nationwide, and only one of 15 in Florida, to receive the five-star rating from CMS through their Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings, Becker’s Hospital Review reports.
“AdventHealth Daytona Beach is dedicated to providing the highest-quality patient-centered care to our community, and this five-star rating reflects the excellent care we provide day in and day out,” said David Weis, president and CEO of AdventHealth Daytona Beach. “I congratulate our entire team for achieving yet another top rating from CMS. This distinction reaffirms our commitment to providing the best and safest care.”
The CMS star ratings are based on 46 quality measures across five categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care.
Compared to 2023, CMS awarded 102 fewer hospitals its five-star quality rating this year and 276 hospitals received one star.
“Our clinicians are focused on improving patient outcomes and enhancing the overall patient experience,” said Dr. David Sinclair, chief medical officer of AdventHealth Daytona Beach. “This latest five-star rating is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our world-class team of physicians, front-line caregivers and the entire AdventHealth family. They continue to set the standard and deliver on our promise of excellence.”
This new accolade comes on the heels of several other national recognitions:
AdventHealth Daytona Beach was named the No. 1 hospital in the Daytona-Deltona metro area by U.S. News & World Report for the fourth consecutive year and one of the top 17 hospitals in the state of Florida. The hospital was rated “high performing” in eight common adult procedures and conditions including stroke, heart failure, heart attack and colon cancer surgery.
AdventHealth Daytona Beach is the only hospital in Florida (and 1 of only 15 in the US) to earn 25 consecutive “A” grades from the Leapfrog Group since the award’s inception.
AdventHealth Daytona Beach is the only facility in Volusia, Flagler, and St. Johns counties to earn the DNV Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification for providing the highest level of competence for treating serious stroke events.
