Aquablation now available in Volusia County

AdventHealth Fish Memorial is the first hospital in Volusia County to offer Aquablation therapy, a new, minimally invasive treatment to relieve symptoms of an enlarged prostate – without any incisions or heat.

Millions of men live with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), a non-cancerous condition that can cause frustrating symptoms like frequent urination, weak flow, and trouble sleeping through the night.

Aquablation combines ultrasound and AI to map each patient’s anatomy. Then, a robotic-guided stream of water gently removes the excess tissue, offering a safer, more precise option designed to protect healthy areas and preserve quality of life.

“This technology enables us to precisely target and remove only the tissue causing symptoms, while preserving the good tissue we want to keep,” said Dr. Arash Rafiei, the urologist who performed the hospital’s first Aquablation procedure. “It’s guided with advanced imaging, almost like having internal GPS – it helps us navigate with incredible accuracy, which leads to better results and fewer side effects.”

Most patients go home the next day and see noticeable relief in just a few weeks.

Aquablation is also offered at several other AdventHealth hospitals in Florida, including Palm Coast Parkway, Celebration, Heart of Florida (Davenport), Kissimmee, Ocala, Winter Garden and Apopka. Its arrival to Volusia County marks an important step in expanding access to leading-edge treatments throughout the region.
