Ronald Hammers, MD

Ronald L. Hammers, MD, is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has practiced in Colorado since 2011 and recognized as a “Top Doctor” in neurosurgery by Colorado Springs Magazine for nine consecutive years. He treats a broad range of neurological conditions, including brain and spine trauma, brain tumors, degenerative spine disease, and peripheral nerve disorders. Dr. Hammers is particularly known for his expertise in both fusion and motion-preserving, non-fusion spine procedures such as cervical disc replacement, which maintains natural movement and can help patients recover more quickly. Dr. Hammers earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Rockford, Illinois. He completed both his general surgery internship and neurosurgical residency at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois, followed by a socioeconomic fellowship through the Council of State Neurosurgical Societies. By joining Neurosurgery One, Dr. Hammers becomes part of a collaborative team of 10 other neurosurgeons with expertise across the full spectrum of brain, spine, and nerve disorders, as well as five interventional pain management physicians who work closely with the neurosurgeons to offer patients the treatment best suited to their condition.

Outside the operating room, he enjoys playing racket sports, making music, cooking, and spending time with his family.

Only when surgery is the best or only solution does he recommend it—often using minimally invasive techniques designed to minimize tissue disruption, reduce pain, and speed recovery.
