Thanks to the family, friends, and coworkers of the late Highlands Country Sheriff Deputy Monica Sauls, pediatric patients at AdventHealth Sebring, Lake Placid, and Wauchula will receive teddy bears to comfort them during their stays. As part of Sauls funeral arrangements, attendees were asked to bring a teddy bear in her honor to share with local children. So far, her friends have collected more than 184 teddy bears and the number keeps growing. Donations are still being collected by Teresa Vicker at Marmer Construction at 3321 US Highway 27 South in Sebring, and Jane Bayless in the State Attorneys Office at 411 South Eucalyptus Street in Sebring. As a continuing tribute to Sauls compassion for Heartland children, the group plans to host a teddy bear drive annually to benefit AdventHealth's pediatric patients.
