Shawnee Mission Health (SMH) physicians, leaders and clinicians are celebrating the Center of Distinction Award, which was given to SMH's Wound Care Centers by Healogics, the nations largest provider of advanced wound care services. Both SMH Wound Care Centers, which are located at Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) and SMH-Prairie Star, achieved outstanding clinical outcomes for 12 consecutive months, including patient satisfaction higher than 92 percent, and a minimum wound healing rate of at least 91 percent within 30 median days to heal. There were 512 U.S. Centers eligible for the Center of Distinction award, but only 221 achieved the honor.
As specialists in wound care, the physicians and nursing staff at the Shawnee Mission Health Wound Care Centers are committed to healing patients wounds quickly and providing the educational support necessary for prevention of future wounds, said the Wound Care Centers Program Director Cindy Ambrose.
