Partnership brings life-changing orthopedic care to underinsured patients

The pain in Jean McMichael’s hip became so bad, she stopped doing simple things many people may take for granted.

“I [didn’t] go grocery shopping anymore because it [was] too much. It [was] too much to go up and down the grocery aisles. I [didn’t] make big meals anymore because trying to be in the kitchen and getting everything together, [was] just too strenuous,” McMichael said.

McMichael had nearly lost hope when her primary care physician told her about Operation Walk USA, which partners with hospitals and physicians to provide life-changing hip and knee surgeries, at no-cost, for patients who might not otherwise be able to afford them.

“I think Operation Walk USA's mission is a natural fit with Rothman Orthopaedics’ world class orthopedic care and AdventHealth’s mission to extend the healing ministry of Christ through community based, whole person care,” said Dr. A.J.
