PALM COAST, Fla., April 2, 2018 Florida Hospital Flagler has named Bill Hepler as infection control manager.
In this role, Hepler is responsible for preventing and controlling the transmission of infectious agents, as well as monitoring cleaning, sterilization, disinfection, and asepsis processes. In addition, he is responsible for educating employees on infection prevention topics and fostering an environment of care.
Hepler has been a registered nurse for 35 years, working in a variety of specialties, including neurology, intensive care unit (ICU), medical/surgical units, and home health.
He has 20 years of experience in infection prevention. Most recently, he served as an infection prevention director for a 335-bed acute care hospital, heading a program focused on infection prevention and employee health.
Hepler is a published author, has presented nationally, and was named to Infection Control Today magazines list of Whos Who in Infection Prevention in 2009. He serves on the board of directors of the Association of Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) for northeast Florida, as well as the Florida Professionals of Infection Control (FPIC).
A Saint Augustine resident, Hepler earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Ursuline College in Pepper Pike, Ohio, and a Master of Science in Health from the University of North Florida in Jacksonville, Florida. In addition, he earned the CIC designation from the Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.
