Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel recently received a Center of Excellence Certification for its Hip and Knee Replacement program from DNV GL Healthcare USA, Inc., an international health care accreditation organization. It is the first hospital in the country to receive this new designation from DNV GL.
This comprehensive, independent evaluation is recognition of the high-quality orthopedic care provided by our physicians and staff and dedication to the best outcomes for our patients, noted Dr. Raterman, orthopedic surgeon and medical director of the Hip and Knee Replacement Center at Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel.
The certification is designed to recognize excellence in orthopedic surgery within the scope of Hip and Knee Replacement and related procedures. In order to earn the certification, a hospital must demonstrate compliance with the DNV GL - Healthcare standard and adherence to guidelines of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. The Center of Excellence designation was awarded for Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel after a rigorous on-site review of hospital processes and quality outcomes.
The hospital offers comprehensive knee and hip replacement services, including pre-surgery patient education classes, preoperative testing, inpatient and outpatient physical therapy and a transition program for therapy patients who want to join the onsite, community health and wellness center. The hospital is currently undergoing an expansion, which will add four more operating rooms, additional private rooms for medical and surgical patients and a gym for surgical patients to receive therapy while in the hospital.
The Center of Excellence designation is one of several recent quality recognitions for the hospital. The hospital received an Outstanding Patient Experience Award from Healthgrades and a Guardian Award for Outstanding Patient Experience from Press Ganey. Achieving the Center of Excellence designation is a culmination of a lot of hard work by a multi-disciplinary team. noted Denyse Bales-Chubb, president and CEO of Florida Hospital Wesley Chapel. It shows the dedication of our staff and physicians to providing the highest quality of care and experience for our patients.
