(Chatsworth, Ga.)In July 2017, Adventist Health System implemented a lab initiative to better the scanning compliance at all facilities within the organization. Over the last six months, Murray Medical Centers lab has seen tremendous improvement in their scanning compliance for both wristbands and specimen due to this initiative.
Murray Medical Centers lab reached their 95 percent compliance goal in October 2017 and then rose to the 99th percentile in December 2017. Their overall compliance increase from the July baseline data to December reflected a 16.58 percent increase for wristband scanning and a 13.08 percent increase for specimen scanning. Not only did Murray Medical Centers lab reflect the greatest compliance improvement for this initiative among all other facilities in Adventist Health System, but their surge in scanning towards the end of the initiative landed Murray Medical Center at the top of the facilities grid for December.
Our lab employees have shown great dedication and diligence in improving patient safety with this system-wide initiative, said Karen Steely, administrator of Murray Medical Center. I am extremely proud of their success.
