PALM COAST, Fla., May 1, 2018 On April 18, nearly 400 student athletes from both Flagler Palm Coast High School and Matanzas High School received a special gift from Florida Hospital Flagler: free sports physicals.
Florida Hospital Flagler pulled together a team of 21 physicians, 35 staff volunteers and 20 Daytona State College nursing students to volunteer their time and talents to provide free sports physicals for the local student athletes. This huge undertaking by the hospital enables the students to participate in sporting events for the coming school year.
This event is something we all look forward to each year. The teamwork and collaboration between physicians, staff and nursing students is inspiring, said Wally De Aquino, Florida Hospital Flagler chief operating officer. It was wonderful to see firsthand the collaboration between our primary care physicians and specialists.
Considering that the average cost for a student physical at a Walk-In Clinic is approximately $30 each, Florida Hospital Flagler provided approximately $12,000 worth of free services to local teenagers with this annual community event.
