The Gordon Hospital Foundation board recently paid tribute to Rhoda Washington, outgoing board chair, for her service to Gordon Hospital and the community. Washington served as chairperson of the Gordon Hospital Foundation board from 2014-2017. Washington has been a member of the board since 2011 and will continue to serve on the board indefinitely.
We are grateful for Rhodas leadership and her commitment to our community, said Garrett Nudd, president of the Gordon Hospital Foundation. She has truly left her mark on Gordon Hospital and our community, and we are excited that she has agreed to continue to serve.
Under Washington's leadership, the Gordon Hospital Foundation completed the CREATION Life Wellness Walk, a beautifully appointed walking trail and CREATION Life observatory on the campus of Gordon Hospital. The CREATION Life Wellness Walk is open to the community and gives walkers the opportunity to learn about the eight universal principles of CREATION Life. Additionally, Washington was instrumental in identifying the need for a women's center at Gordon Hospital and urging the foundation board to adopt that as their next big community project. Washington also served as a board member when the Harris Radiation Therapy Center was completed and assisted in that transformational project.
It has been an honor to serve with an amazing group of dedicated leaders, both from the hospital and from the community, said Washington. I am proud of the fact that we redefined our purpose and identified the need for a women's center at Gordon Hospital. The women's center project gave the foundation board new direction, a new message to share with our neighbors, and a goal for even more access to world-class services and physicians right here in Gordon County.
Mike Davis, retired educator and former superintendent of Calhoun City Schools, will serve as chairperson going forward.
