Tampa, FL (June 20, 2016) Florida Hospital Physician Group (FHPG) is pleased to announce the addition of John Dietrick, MD, FACS to Florida Hospital Physician Group. Dr. Dietrick is a highly experienced, board certified general surgeon with expertise in weight loss surgery using minimally invasive surgical and robotic techniques, and is the Medical Director of the Florida Hospital Tampa Surgical Weight Loss Institute.
Dr. Dietrick earned his medical degree from Wright State University School of Medicine in Dayton, Ohio before completing his internship and residency in General Surgery at Loyola University Medical Center in Chicago, IL. Following his residency, he joined the faculty at the University of Toledo Medical Center where he was appointed Chief of Trauma Surgery and Associate Director of the Surgical Training Program. He then entered private practice in Toledo and founded Toledo Surgical Specialist, Inc. where he served as President before relocating to Tampa in 2003. He received his board certification from the American Board of Surgery, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
Dr. Dietrick was integral in establishing the Surgical Weight Loss Center at Florida Hospital Tampa in 2005. The center has now become a comprehensive weight loss program known as the Florida Hospital Tampa Surgical Weight Loss Institute where Dr. Dietrick serves as Medical Director. Specializing in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, Dr. Dietrick performs the following weight loss procedures: gastric sleeve, gastric bypass, Lap-Band, and vBloc Therapy. Through his Medical Directorship, Dr. Dietrick has also introduced a non-surgical weight loss option, the Orbera Weight Loss System, at the Florida Hospital Tampa Surgical Weight Loss Institute making it the first establishment in the Tampa area to offer this weight loss program.
