DELAND, Fla., May 9, 2016 More than 150 DeLand-area faith and business leaders, as well as community members, joined Florida Hospital DeLand for the 15th annual Mayors Prayer Breakfast on May 4 at the Wayne G. Sanborn Activity Center.
Stetson University's Barron String Quartette opened the event with The Star-Spangled Banner, followed by devotions and prayer by hospital leadership, as well as area faith leaders from First Christian Church, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Seventh-day Adventist Church, St. Peter Catholic Church, Stetson Baptist Church, First Assembly Church, and the Lighthouse Church.
This is always such a wonderful event and so well attended. To see leaders come together and honor God, it speaks volumes of our community, said Hector de Jesus, Florida Hospital DeLand chief operating officer. When patients come to our hospital, many are members of these local congregations. Because of our strong relationships, clergy know their flocks being taken care of at Florida Hospital DeLand, that their spiritual needs are met along with their healthcare needs.
