VOLUSIA and FLAGLER COUNTIES, Fla., October 9, 2017 Jennifer Robinson, oncology dietitian for the Cancer Institutes at Florida Hospital DeLand, Florida Hospital Fish Memorial, Florida Hospital Flagler, and Florida Hospital Memorial Medical Center, has earned board certification as a specialist in oncology nutrition from the Commission on Dietetic Registration.
Robinson is now one of only 39 registered dietitians in the state of Florida to earn certification as a specialist in oncology nutrition.
The Commission on Dietetic Registration administers rigorous credentialing processes to protect the public and has offered this credential since 2008.
Board certification is granted in recognition of documented experience and successful examination. A recommended minimum of two years of clinical practice with documentation of 2,000 hours of practice experience in the oncology care setting is required.
I wanted to earn this certification to prove to myself that I had the knowledge and skills to provide the best care. Earning the board certification means our cancer patients and my colleagues can be confident in my abilities, Robinson said.
A registered dietitian for 20 years, Robinson serves cancer patients at four Florida Hospital Cancer Institutes within Volusia and Flagler counties, helping patients with high-risk nutritional needs throughout the cancer treatment journey.
A New Smyrna Beach resident, Robinson earned a Bachelor of Science in Food Science and Human Nutrition from the University of Florida and completed a dietetic internship at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She was previously a board-certified specialist in renal nutrition and worked with dialysis patients for 12 years.
