AdventHealth Waterman has selected Michael Stimson to serve as chief nursing officer (CNO), effective July 9.
In this role, Stimson will be responsible for the organization and administration of nursing care at the 269-bed Tavares hospital. He replaces Lynn Kirman as she begins her retirement after 3 years with AdventHealth Waterman.
With 25 years of clinical experience, Stimson previously worked at Manchester Memorial Hospital, an Adventist Health System facility in Manchester, Kentucky. Stimson served as director of the emergency department and operating room and was promoted to chief nursing officer in 2015. As CNO, he helped bring patient satisfaction scores up to the 75th percentile and implemented a registered nurse residency and a nursing leadership structure that assured continuity of care. In 2016, he helped the hospital attain the Top Rural Hospital designation by The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization focused on the quality and safety of health care.
He is passionate about creating an exceptional patient experience for all those we care for, said Abel Biri, AdventHealth Waterman Chief Executive Officer. I’m confident with Mikes leadership, AdventHealth Waterman will continue to improve on all aspects of care and patient experience as we fulfill our mission of extending the healing ministry of Christ.
I feel blessed for this opportunity to continue serving in this amazing organization and to now join the AdventHealth Waterman team, said Stimson. I am also excited to be a part of helping the hospital continue to grow to meet the increasing needs of the community while maintaining high standards of excellent patient care.
Stimson earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Union College in Lincoln Nebraska in 1993, and a Masters of Healthcare Administration from the University of Phoenix in 2013.
Stimson is husband of 26 years to his wife Theresa and is a proud father of a 24-year-old daughter and an 18-year-old son.
