AdventHealth has once again received the highest score possible in patient safety from what many see as one of the most difficult distinctions to earn. All AdventHealth Pasco County hospitals including AdventHealth Dade City, AdventHealth Wesley Chapel and AdventHealth Zephyrhills received an A in safety from the prestigious Leapfrog Group. The national patient safety watchdog group delivers grades based on quality metrics such as a hospital’s performance in preventing medical errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.
Out of 3,000 hospitals evaluated nationwide, only 30% received this top grade, and only 3 are designated as a Top General Hospital in the state of Florida, including AdventHealth Zephyrhills
“We are honored to be recognized with this incredible achievement,” said Amanda Maggard, President and CEO of AdventHealth Dade City and AdventHealth Zephyrhills. “It takes devoted leaders, physicians and team members to ensure we deliver highly skilled and safe care every time someone is in our hospital. Our hospitals have prioritized clinical excellence as a promise to consumers, and we are proud to set the expectation of high-quality care when you choose AdventHealth.”
All AdventHealth hospitals receiving an “A” in patient safety include:
- AdventHealth Carrollwood
- AdventHealth Dade City
- AdventHealth Lake Placid
- AdventHealth Lake Wales
- AdventHealth North Pinellas
- AdventHealth Sebring
- AdventHealth Tampa
- AdventHealth Wesley Chapel
- AdventHealth Zephyrhills
“AdventHealth is committed to continually evaluating and implementing systems that enhance clinical excellence and keep patients safe,” said Dr. Robin McGuinness, senior executive officer and chief nurse executive for AdventHealth West Florida Division. “The consecutive “A” grades are a testament to our teams who carry out the protocols and procedures that ensure our communities have the highest quality care possible and trust they’re safe in our care.”
The Leapfrog Group previously awarded AdventHealth the Emerald Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Health Care System, a first for any health system. The achievement honors AdventHealth’s performance across Leapfrog’s Hospital Safety Grades and Top Hospital award, which is one of the most competitive quality awards a hospital and its team members can receive.
