AdventHealth outpatient clinics offer a unique and valuable mental health care service called Integrated Behavioral Health (IBH). An IBH specialist is a mental health provider, such as a licensed professional counselor or clinical social worker, employed by AdventHealth and placed in a primary care or OBGYN office. They work alongside providers and can see patients for counseling sessions and consult with providers.
In some cases, patients may receive a referral to a counselor or a mental health agency but then there is a significant process they must follow to get to the moment where they receive counseling.
These obstacles can deter individuals experiencing mental health challenges from seeking assistance from a counselor well before they are able to receive the necessary support. Integrated Behavioral Health brings mental health care to the patients and removes all those barriers to care.
If a patient is dealing with a mental health issue, doctors in AdventHealth clinics can have the patient schedule an appointment with an IBH specialist before they leave.
Darci Harvey, Director of Integrated Behavioral Health in the Rocky Mountain Region, is primarily responsible for the IBH program in Colorado.
Through Darci’s efforts, AdventHealth has been able to place eighteen providers in clinics across the front range in places like Castle Rock, Denver, and Louisville serving in a variety of settings including OBGYNs, primary care, and even pain clinics. Darci’s IBH team is helping “Make it Easy” for our patients to access mental health care.
If you or someone you love needs mental health care and you are an AdventHealth patient, please check with your doctor to find the IBH provider closest to you. You can also read more about the AdventHealth behavioral health program here.
