Approximately 1 billion people throughout the world suffer from tinnitus (ringing in the ears), and it is the number one disability of those who serve in the U.S. military. The condition can disrupt sleep and concentration, negatively impacting daily quality of life and mental health. There is currently no cure.
That is why the AdventHealth Research Institute is excited to be participating in a new multi-site clinical trial funded by the U.S. Department of Defense. Under the leadership of Principal Investigator Michael Seidman, MD, this study will evaluate the efficacy of etanercept, a TNF-alpha blocker, as a potential treatment for blast-induced tinnitus.
