Erik Stites, MD

Erik Stites, MD, is a board-certified transplant nephrologist. This field of medicine enables him to be a part of one of the most impactful fields in modern medicine. He truly enjoys the collaboration between healthcare professionals of different disciplines and patients and their families that is needed to make the transplant process successful.

Dr. Stites believes in empowering patients through education is critical to fostering informed decision-making. By helping patients understand their condition, treatment options and the transplant process, he aims to give them the tools they need to feel confident and engaged in their care.

Dr. Stites received his medical degree from Creighton University. He went on to complete his internal medicine residency at the University of Virginia, followed by fellowship training in both general nephrology and transplant nephrology at the University of Colorado.

Dr. Stites’ primary research interest is the investigation of potential biomarkers to better identify and monitor immunologic risks and injuries after a kidney transplant. He is an active member of the American Transplant Society and the American Society of Nephrology.

In his free time, Dr. Stites enjoys camping, hiking and skiing with his wife and three boys. He also like to golf and is an avid Kansas City Chiefs football fan.
