Luz Helena Gutierrez Sanchez, MD

Helena Gutierrez, MD, is a board-certified pediatric hepatologist who specializes in the treatment of complex liver conditions and transplants. After earning a medical degree at St. George’s University School of Medicine in Grenada, Dr. Gutierrez completed a pediatric residency at SUNY Upstate Medical University in New York. In addition, she completed fellowship training in pediatric gastroenterology and hepatology and pediatric transplant hepatology from the Mayo Clinic College of Medicine in Minnesota and USC Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in California respectively. She previously served as an assistant professor and Medical Director of the Liver Transplant Program at the Children’s Hospital of Alabama and has published dozens of peer-reviewed articles and abstracts. Dr. Gutierrez is fluent in Spanish and English.
